Did you know that there is an Artist Alley event happening in Phnom Penh? And even better, two EWIS students will be sharing a booth at the convention! Come visit us on October 4th-5th at Connexion, Koh Pich!
Meet Marita and Chloe!
MARITA
Hello everyone, I’m Marita, or you can call me by my online persona Maraaa. You may have heard or noticed that I am the artist and manager behind @mara_mara_843 on Instagram. Besides Instagram, I’ve been using my art skills for various clubs like the Newsletter club and the Peacemakers club.
This is my first time boothing at a convention; nevertheless, I’m very excited as well as nervous. I will be selling art prints, stickers, and photocards! My art style consists of very bright colors and is inspired by the shows I like. I started digital art at the end of 4th grade, so I’ve been doing art seriously for 8 years.
As of late, being a senior has taken a massive toll on me. Especially the amount of time I’ve spent studying instead of drawing made me realise just how much I miss drawing. Nevertheless, drawing has been a big aspect of my life, and I wish that you all spend your time unleashing your creativity!
CHLOE
Hii! I’m Chloe, I’m currently a 12th grader, and you might recognise some of my work from NV merch or comics on the Thunder Times Newspaper, and I’m here to tell you a little about my small business! It started as a hobby at first with my sisters, and that’s why it was called “auber.co” —after our family surname.
This business is about me being able to express what I love to do, which is to create. I love to paint, sculpt clay, and make jewelry or anything hands-on. For me, this was my creative outlet outside of school.
Despite this being said, it was not all easy— I struggled with juggling student life, social life, and a small business simultaneously. I used to do pop-ups at Factory, Coconut Park, and The Ground Market; however, we weren’t always met with success. The hard truth is that most were exhausting and ended with barely breaking even. But with hard work, consistency, and support from family and friends, it all makes it worth it.
Make sure to come and say hi! We will both really appreciate it so much. Again, this event is not just us, but many other local artists and businesses will be showing up as well! Check @keepup_avenue on Instagram for more information!
(Also, Chloe decided to betray Marita, and she won’t be able to booth on both days. T^T So please show up to support us!)
